Not That Kind of Girl is the last in the series about Josie, Ginger, Bea, and Roxie. This book tells about Roxie and her life. She's been left heartbroken by men and wants nothing to do with them. She also had a vicious dog who feels the same way, but along comes Eli who changes everything for her. The book follows their relationship as it evolves. This book out of all of Donovan's book seemed to be way mushier that usual. At times it was a little too mushy. I'm all for a great romance and the characters being in love, but not to the point it gets to gagging when they say things. Roxie is an interesting character and Eli had his own traits and neither one of them were bad characters, but some of the things they said to each other were funny, but not in a laughable way. They were slightly too gushy and life can be so wonderful if we let it. Also in the book there are side stories which at times seemed out of place to put in a story that was supposed to be about Roxie and Eli, but I guess Donovan wanted to bring closure to the other characters.Overall it was an okay book. Not my favorite of the series just because of all the extra mushy stuff that could have been cut down and got old after a while, but it was still a good book.

It was interesting as the last in a trilogy. I would recommend this one to my friends because I think it would show more of what started in the first book.
If you are a fan of Susan Donovan you will like this book. It is the final installment in a trilogy about four friends who get together to exercise their dogs and discuss their lives. I enjoyed the first two installments more. This was a little predictable, but it was still an enjoyable read.
Great story by one of my favorite authors, I think this is my favorite yet from this series of books, I just loved the main characters. My only problem with this book was the ending, I HATED the ending. There is mention of someone in the last chapter who just shouldn't have been there, and it kind of ruined the ending for me.
This book has the whole gamut of emotions in this one story. Kudos!! I highly recommend it. It can be read in one sitting.
This is the last of the Dogwalker Trilogy and I love all three books. Perhaps this one the most because we see all of the dogwalkers setlled and... you need to buy the books.
Roxie Bloom is the mistress if a website dedicated to the hatred of men. When her ex bursts in on her and her already skittish dogs attacks him, she suddenly has to defend herself in a vicious dog trial. Making matters worse, her ex, Raymond is an attorney used to getting is way and he wants Lillith put down permanently. Enter Eli Gallagher, known as the "Dog Whisperer." He has a reputation for being able to train any dog into submission as their pack leader. He is in the SF Bay Area to locate his birth father and reunite with old friends (featured in the pervious novels "Ain't Too Proud to Beg" and "The Night She Got Lucky"). Roxie is skittish and her nervousness rubs off on Lillith with negative results. As Roxie lets her guard down and learns how to relax and be a better pack leader, she falls for the charms of Eli, particularly after they spend quality time together on his ranch in Utah. There is even a romance for jaded Bea.
This marks the end of a trilogy by Donovan featuring a foursome of former writers from a folding newspaper who've given up on romance. I thought that this novel started out strong - I loved the tension and build up between Eli and Roxie. But it seemed like once they headed to Utah, the story changed and became too sappy. And the haiku drama that unfolds at the end is pretty predictable. Although somewhat enjoyable, it just does not compare to her earlier stand alone works. Series romances can be entertaining, but when they are separated by such a long publish date, it is difficult to keep up with the revolving door of characters, and the author's choice to summarize the previous novels for readers who may not have read the first two, just makes the storyline all the more clunky. I am definitely looking for Donovan's next stand alone novel.
This review applies to the trio of books 1Not That Kind of Girl - 2The Night She Got Lucky - 3Ain't Too Proud to Beg. I'm not sure what explains the clearly mixed reviews, but I really enjoyed these books. I liked the characters, albeit some more than others; Rick for example. I've rarely read a book where the characters weren't frustrating or weak at times and fell short here and there so perhaps I'm more willing to overlook a few bumps in the road than others. Regardless, it was worth my time reading these books and perhaps if the cost weren't so high for the eBook versions that would have been even more enjoyable. My only regret is not realizing that the stories are connected across the 3 books and there is an order to them, which I listed above. I read them in 312 order and still enjoyed them.
