This book is for anyone who knows what it means to live on the outer edge of a society that can feel physically and spiritually oppressing. Fighting back against the status quo and unveiling the masks that many wear, the main hero, Khalil Madi, shows us that regardless of situation, background or status, one person can be an example to the whole world. Excellently written. Well developed plot. Colourful, realistic characters. An easy, indulgent read.Tags : Punish the Wicked: A Dystopian Horror [Nicholas Morine] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. DARK DAYS APPROACH: A black prophecy of the future escapes from beneath the broken and snowbound streets of Old Russia. This is a fantastic book by a new author definitely worth keeping an eye on. Nicholas Morine has put his own touch on the cyberpunk setting, while exploring complex issues of liberty, individuality and security. Punish the Wicked has incredible depth and encourages discussion on a number of issues.
Punish the Wicked was super satisfying! If you want a thrilling dystopia, then this is it. Nicholas Morine does a great job of representing the outsider, Khalil Madi, and his struggle to exist under the oppressive MEU. Besides action and oppression, I loved the setting, the very background of events. It's very metal. Many of the buildings and equipment are decrepit remnants from a bygone era of humanity, but the gruesome technology of the day maintains a firm grip on most of the population. I don't want to spoil it for you. Read this book.
Morine's Punish the Wicked was an entertaining read from start to finish. His take on the future dystopia is well crafted, presented with enough detail and background to feel connected to the events and characters. Khalil Madi's hazy background gives the impression that this is not a nice world to inhabit for most, and ultimately readers will learn about the societies positives and negatives brought on by social status / classifications.
The back half of the novel really packs a lot of action in, but Morine does a good job of mixing in breaks and background content (news articles with comments from the public are used, as an interesting aside) which helps keep the pace fresh.
I'm looking forward to see what else comes out of Nick's camp in the future.
